Exotics is a category, not a higher grade

When we talk about Exotics at Best Value Weed, we're not claiming something above AAAAA. The quality bar is comparable — frost, cure, trim, terpenes all at the top — but what you're paying for is uncommonness. The Exotics shelf is where we put flower that's interesting specifically because you can't find it down the road. Limited-run phenos from boutique breeders. Imports with genetics you'd only otherwise see in Los Angeles or Amsterdam. One-off cultivars that a cultivator ran out of curiosity and won't grow again.

Because the supply is intentionally short, Exotics rotates fast. A strain that's in a jar this Wednesday may not be back until next month, or ever. We label each jar with the cultivar name, the breeder where known, the origin, and the harvest date. If something catches your eye, don't wait.

Who Exotics is for

Experienced smokers who collect strains the way some people collect wines. Anyone who's already tried the usual premium cultivars and wants to meet something new. People buying gifts for cannabis-nerd friends. Local concentrate makers sourcing starting material with genuinely rare terpene expression. Customers who enjoy the drop model — the idea that the bag you bought this week might be a bag nobody else ever gets to buy.

Common visitors to this shelf include rotator-chasing Zkittlez phenos, gas-forward Chemdog descendants, old-school landrace Thai or Afghan hash-plant crosses, and whatever the Ontario breeders are quietly releasing in micro-batches that month. THC is usually in the 24 to 30 percent range but, as with AAAAA, the number is secondary.

How we price Exotics by size

Exotics is $18 per gram, $55 for an eighth (3.5g), $95 for a quarter (7g), $175 for a half (14g), and $260 for a full ounce (28g) — about $9.29 per gram at volume. Full ounces of any single Exotics strain are rare; most customers buy by the eighth and move through several strains a month.

If you want something still curated but less limited, AAAAA is the more consistent top-shelf option. For the methodology behind how we grade, see our grading guide.
