What connoisseur-grade actually looks like
At Best Value Weed, AAAAA is the top of the A-scale. At this level, every box that matters gets ticked — trichome density, cure time, trim quality, terpene complexity, flower structure, and consistency from the top to the bottom of the jar. You could hand a random bud from an AAAAA batch to anyone who smokes regularly and they'd recognise the tier inside of five seconds.
The buds are heavy in the hand for their size. Trichome heads are glassy and intact, catching light in a way that AAAA+ only hints at. The terpene profile isn't one note — it's layered, with top notes of citrus or fuel or candy giving way to deeper earth, wood, or spice as you break the bud open. THC typically sits above 26 percent, but at this tier the percentage number becomes almost beside the point. What you're paying for is completeness.
Who AAAAA is for
Seasoned smokers who've worked their way through every tier and want to see what the ceiling actually looks like. Gift buyers — this is the jar you show up with. Writers, photographers, anyone whose work involves actually evaluating cannabis. Weekend celebrators who smoke less but want every session to count. Anyone planning a special occasion who'd rather buy an eighth of something memorable than an ounce of something ordinary.
Our AAAAA shelf rotates frequently — the best indoor growers in Ontario run small batches, and we take what they have when it's ready. Expect standout cultivars from the modern cookie and cake families, classic OG phenotypes, and occasional boutique-bred hybrids. Each jar is labelled with the strain, the farm, and the harvest date.
How we price AAAAA by size
AAAAA is $15 per gram, $45 for an eighth (3.5g), $80 for a quarter (7g), $150 for a half (14g), and $220 for a full ounce (28g) — about $7.86 per gram by the ounce. Most AAAAA customers buy by the eighth or quarter and rotate through different strains. Full ounces of any single cultivar are worth calling ahead for — at this tier, cultivators release what they have when they have it, and popular strains move fast.
Looking for something rarer still? Exotics sits in a parallel category — not higher-graded, but built around limited-run and imported cultivars. For the full methodology behind the A-scale, see our grading guide.
